After a commercially successful Rock On!! and critically acclaimed Luck By Chance, actor-director Farhan Akhtar is ready with his third film as a lead actor.

He is ready to release romantic thriller Karthik Calling Karthik that has a mysterious crank caller Karthik spooking out the on screen Karthik played by Farhan.

He spoke to CNN-IBN about the new film.

Even as Karthik Calling Karthik moves closer to the release date, Farhan Akhtar is busy with other things. Globetrotting, for one. Well, he’s not really on a world tour to calm his nerves before the release, instead, he is already working on his next big venture — Don 2.

Along with his business partner, Ritesh Sidhwani, he is apparently doing a recce around Germany, Turkey, Manila and Poland to scout for locations.

Hotshot filmmaker and super hot actor Farhan Akhtar turns a year older today. He shares his birthday with his filmmaker cousin Farah Khan, and if their hectic schedules permit... the two cousins normally cut a cake together. “We have a Capri9 Club going,’’ says Farhan, who is happy he got a chance to be ‘home’ with his wife Adhuna and two daughters Shakya and Akira on his birthday this year.

Farhan Akhtar is smiling to himself as he watches a rough-cut of his next acting assignment Karthik Calling Karthik in the luxury of his own office. The actor says he wanted to release KCK with Deepika Padukone on February 26. “However since there was a slight ambiguity at that point on whether Hrithik Roshan’s Kites would release on the same date, we shifted our release date. Both Duggu and Rakesh Roshan had spoken to me about Kites. If a friend is releasing his film on that date, I would naturally go out of my way to accommodate him.”

When it comes to sequels, Hollywood is best known for churning out splendid sequels year-after-year. It seems B-town is not lagging far behind its international counterpart while dabbling in sequels. Nevertheless, sequels are interesting only if there isn't a big interval between two releases so as to cash in on the raging success of the first part. As per latest reports SRK's DON which released in 2006 will have its sequel in 2011!

Its heard that the final script of the flick is ready and Shah Rukh has even kept dates for the flick but after the thumping success of ROCK ON, Farhan Akhtar is bitten by the acting bug and now-a-days is more gung-ho about acting assignments rather than direction. Tough apparently SRK was keen to finish the film this year but it wasn't possible, as Farhan had other commitments. While next year SRK's dates are committed to Anubhav Sinha's RA-1 and Farah Khan's HAPPY NEW YEAR.
